ÑÇÉ«Ó°¿â

Katie Bender is the UAA director of marketing and communications, having served in the role since February 2025. In her role, Bender leads a dynamic team of communications professionals and works closely with the chancellor and cabinet on stakeholder engagement. She also collaborates across campuses and Southcentral communities to execute internal and external institutional communications that promote the University’s brand and its values of student success, excellence and access. 

Bender has worked in communications and public relations for nearly 20 years. She has spent her career working in ÑÇÉ«Ó°¿â. Bender has worked in the nonprofit sector, private sector and has joined the university with a breadth of experience working with individuals and businesses throughout ÑÇÉ«Ó°¿â. She serves on the board of directors for the Public Relations Society of America, ÑÇÉ«Ó°¿â Chapter and Midnight Sun Theater. Prior to joining the university, she served on the Alumni Association Board of Directors for six years, three of those were as president.
