Ali Knabe named UAF interim chief of staff

Longtime UAF leader Ali Knabe has been appointed to serve as interim chief of staff. Knabe, who currently serves as associate vice chancellor for student affairs, will start her new position on Monday, Aug. 25. 

Knabe began her career at UAF in 2000 as a fiscal officer and program coordinator. She served as the executive officer in student affairs for 12 years before stepping into her current role in 2016. As associate vice chancellor, she is responsible for oversight of a $21 million budget and UAF鈥檚 core student services departments, including dining, The Pub and the bookstore, Residence Life, Nanook Recreation, Disability Services, and the Student Health and Counseling Center.

Vice Chancellor Owen Guthrie will work with Knabe to develop a plan to ensure continuity in those departments.
