As UA returns to campus this fall and another semester begins, families may be juggling new routines and childcare needs. If you are enrolled in the Dependent Care FSA (DC FSA), now is a great time to ensure you鈥檙e getting the most out of this benefit.

What is the DC FSA?

The Dependent Care FSA helps you save by using pre-tax dollars for eligible child care expenses such as daycare, before and after school care, camps, etc.

I have a DC FSA currently and need to make changes

DC FSAs are elected for the plan year. Changes can only be made during Open Enrollment or within 30 days of a life event.

When can I sign up for a DC FSA?

If you do not have a DC FSA currently, you can enroll during Open Enrollment each year (for the following July 1 - June 30 plan year) or you can enroll within 30 days of a life event.

Key things to remember

  • Children must be under 13 years old*
  • Covers daycare expenses only
  • It鈥檚 鈥渦se it or lose it鈥 benefit- unused funds do not roll over at the end of the plan year
  • Funds become available only after each payroll deduction

*You cannot use any FSA or HSA funds for a Financially Interdependent Partner (FIP) or their children due to IRS regulation. These funds can only be used for legal spouses and dependents.
